While installing the game, I visited the old Human Head Studios Rune web site, and I discovered a forgotten tidbit. Atlas Games had produced an RPG based on Rune. I immediately cursed myself. Why did I not buy this RPG when it was available? Oh, that's right. I was stuck in D20 land. *sigh*
Now I kick myself for this RPG is no longer in print. I did find copies on Amazon for $20 from third-party sellers, but I haven't investigated it much further. My hope was that it was available somewhere in PDF format so that others could purchase and play this RPG as well. So far, I've had no luck finding.
Something crossed my mind, however. I have no idea if this RPG is any good. So, I turn to you, RPG community. What do you know about the Rune RPG?

I've always been curious about the Rune rpg as well, due to its round robin GM arrangement. As I understand it, each player is given a budget of point to construct a level of the underworld and the GM position moves around the table during the course of the session. Interesting in theory but finding X number of GMs to play together AND agree on a ruleset sounds tricky.
ReplyDeleteI think it could work so long as everyone assumes the same rules as written. The focus would need to be more about sharing the story rather than tweaking mechanics.
ReplyDeleteStill, not every GM wants to play the same game, and it'd be very hard to get people new to RPGs involved.
